The role of religious institutions in confronting corruption

Abstract

The corruption has appeared since the human life started on the earth. The nations, international, regional and local organizations are largely interested in confronting the corruption, especially after its relationship with organized crimes and different security problems the contemporary societies are sufferinghasbeen affirmed.
The Egyptian Nation is mainly concerned with confronting the corruption, especially after the eruption of 30th June revolution in 2013 in order to claim for the political, economic and social reform. The political leadership has repeatedly stressed the necessity to confront the corruption according to the guarantees laid down by the Egyptian constitution- issued in 2014, modified in 2019 – regardingthe anti-corruption, specifically in article no, “218” which stipulates that “the nation is committed to confronting the corruption, and the law must define the concerned monitoring systems and authorities. There must be coordination between these monitoring systems and authorities, and the values of transparency and integrity must be promoted to warrant the high quality performance and preserving the public money. The anti- corruption national strategy must be followed up in cooperation with other concerned authorities as defined by the law”.
It is too significant to clarify the definition of corruption with its concept, reasons, its effect on the Egyptian national security, as well as shedding the light on the importance of Egyptian religious (Islamic and Christian)establishments’ role in confronting the corruption in cooperation with the state’s other establishments, and working out the main features of suggested strategy for the Egyptian religious (Islamic and Christian) establishments to confront this problem.
