In past two decades, the world has witnessed rapid and consecutive information, technical and technological leaps. Hence, most countries exert more efforts to cope with these developments, positively reflecting on the society, and turning the traditionally run establishments into electronic ones to save the efforts, time and costs. Several fields, especially the education one have witnessed these changes. We can easily perceive how the distance education and the knowledge services have developed and positively affected in the last few years due to employing the electronic techniques. It is critical to compare between Distance education, integrated education and traditional education. Each one of them has its advantages and disadvantages. Selecting one of them depends on several factors such as the subject addressed in the educational process, educational level, educational targets, students and teachers, and the available technology. The study seeks to define the requirements for applying the distance education according to the recent experiences and technological development through defining the theoretical frame of the distance education, the critical differences among the different types of distance education, its advantages and disadvantages, the most appropriate type of distance learning in teaching
