The impact of information management on the strategic planning of the country's foreign policy

Abstract

Developing the world concept of national security as a result of the changes the world witness, the spread of mass destructive weapons, electronic communication revolution, external space invasion, Internet and information revolution that turn the world into small village, sheds the light on the need to balanced external policies seeking to achieve the nation’s national security. Hence, the need for a strategic planning to formulate national strategy that critically define the nation’s foreign policy options, and preserve its national security through its available resources, is highlighted.
There are some factors necessary for planning the foreign policy successfully in order to achieve the nation’s national objectives. The accurate information and estimations, prediction, mastering the use of scientific methods in anticipating the future are the most important factors.
It is too important to study the effect of information on thinking and strategic planning of the nation’s foreign policy as both of them are basic tools for the maintenance of the nation’s national security objectives, especially, we live in a world based on information and information technology in all walks of life, not only the planning.
