Abstract

The Middle East region has had the largest share of the major transformations that have occurred in American foreign policy since the arrival of Joe Biden to the presidency in January 2021 with regard to the American role in the Middle East conflicts in general, and the Yemeni conflict in particular.
The Yemeni file had the largest share of shifts in the American position. Where the three decisions announced by Biden regarding Yemen are: stopping all American support for offensive operations in Yemen, including arms sales, supporting the peace initiative led by the United States of America, and appointing American diplomat Tim Linder King as a special envoy to Yemen.
It is important evaluating the American role in managing the Yemeni conflict in the context of the specificity of the Yemeni issue and the complex and special nature of the Yemeni conflict, and in the context of the impact of the Saudi-Iranian agreement - under Chinese sponsorship - on the American role and the possibilities of a peaceful political settlement of the Yemeni conflict.
