The Middle East region - and the Arab part of it - has known internal differences that surface from time to time, and this means that deep within the countries of the region there are ties stronger than all differences and connections stronger than all crises. An example of this is what happened on February 6, 2023, when an earthquake struck. Horrific in eastern and southern Turkey, northern and western Syria, and other areas falling under the banner of the two countries. The losses reached huge numbers, with the victims numbering in the thousands and the wounded in tens of thousands. The differences vanished in the face of the tragedy, and Arabs and non-Arabs rushed to the aid of the brothers in Syria and Turkey, as everyone rose above all differences. In front of the momentous event, these are examples of things that loom on the horizon and give a feeling that what is coming may not be expected. If we blame ourselves for not being prepared for political surprises, then we are asking for preparation for climate change. It is not only the anger of peoples that we suffer, but it is the anger of nature as well.
