Abstract

It is important to study the extent of the impact of the changes that the global arena has witnessed recently on the international security system, and the effectiveness of the efforts of the international community in dealing with those changes and addressing their effects, in a way that results in the preservation of international peace and security, including preventing the escalation of what is associated with those variables. Threats that could endanger the lives of communities and peoples. In this context, the focus is on the variables that have an impact on the international security system, which are exclusively: the emerging Covid-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the American provocations against China regarding the Taiwan issue and its challenge to the “one China” principle. Also, Egypt's water security is linked to the Ethiopian dam crisis, as it is an existential issue directly linked to Egypt's national security, and thus to the security of the region. In addition, it addresses the problem of terrorism, climate change, and the failure of the international community to achieve nuclear disarmament in the world.
